This weekend, as we commemorate Father’s Day in the US, we will be acknowledging a unique group of individuals who enrich our lives with strength, impart wisdom, and motivate us to strive for greatness. To fathers, bonus dads, and father figures, Protiviti wishes to honor you! Happy Father’s Day!

Our Employee Network Group for parents, the Parents’ Network, is not just a community but a vibrant support system for working parents at Protiviti. Through this network, we encourage parents to celebrate achievements, share knowledge, aid transitions, and surmount challenges they may encounter together. We reached out to some of our own Protiviti fathers from our Parents’ Network to share their insights on what being a parent means to them. Scroll down to discover more!

“What does parenthood mean to you?”

Parenthood, to me, means always being there and present for my kids. From those exhausting late-night feedings and diaper changes to serving on my kid’s Home & School Association, attending countless soccer practices and games, parkour lessons, Girl Scout meetings, and more! As the saying goes, “the days are long, but the years are short”; the daily grind can sometimes feel overwhelming, but looking back it always feels like it was never enough time spent with my kids. For me, being there also means giving them life lessons and moral support to help them make good choices and grow to be happy and healthy little humans! – Ericson Carrera, Philadelphia Associate Director

Parenthood is an incredibly unique and transformative experience that changes your perspective on life and the world. I consider myself fortunate to have three children who, despite their differences, are each other’s best friends. Watching them grow, develop, and celebrate their achievements—both big and small—brings me immense joy. For me, being a parent means focusing on every aspect of my children’s lives. My aim is to support them and make improvements wherever possible. Their academic, athletic, social, and creative pursuits are incredible and require my focus, logistical support, time, and, above all, love. Parenthood means having people in my life whom I love unconditionally and who love me back. Together, we have created a family filled with traditions, favorite places, inside jokes, and shared memories. Being a parent means having a never-changing Priority Number One. Entering parenthood, no one truly knows what to expect. For me, it has been the most enjoyable and important experience of my life. – Dmitri Mogilevski, Minneapolis, Associate Director

When I reflect on parenthood, I think about the significant changes in myself before and after becoming a parent. For me, parenthood represents growth and has truly changed me for the better. I used to be quite selfish, unconcerned about others, and my interactions with people were often transactional. Parenthood has taught me selflessness as I willingly give up my last bite, cope with constant anxiety about safety, and allow room for learning experiences. It has also instilled in me a deep compassion for others, as I remind myself during stressful situations that “they were once a child too.” These valuable lessons have been learned through the tears, screams, and countless “no’s” from my little ones. – Andrew Milden, Charlotte, Manager

Being a parent is a unique challenge and incredible experience, with the best reward being watching your child grow every day. As a working father to a curious and energetic three-year-old, my life is an unpredictable roller coaster. I still remember a few early morning calls with my team when my little “intern” decided to join and say hi in his pajamas. Parenthood has redefined my priorities and reshaped my perspective on both my personal and professional life in a challenging yet rewarding way. For me, being a father means embracing the unpredictable and celebrating small victories, like my son’s first goal during his soccer game or his first graduation concert. The most important consulting project I will ever undertake is raising my son. Achieving a balance between work and family is not just about managing my time, it’s about creating a life that’s rich, fulfilling, and allows for quality time with my child and family. Understanding from coworkers and flexibility at work are significant perks that make this balance possible. Work-life balance is at the top of my list, and I appreciate and value every moment of it while raising my son. – Artem Kornilov, Chicago, Senior Consultant
