When it comes to building a career, what piece of advice would you offer?

“Have fun! A successful career is unlikely to be built overnight, so it’s important to enjoy the journey. As Dale Carnegie stated, ‘People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing’.”

What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on at Protiviti?

“Earlier this year, I undertook a large-scale privacy review at a multinational banking and financial services company. Privacy was something that I had not worked on previously, so it was great to expand my knowledge of risk and compliance.”

Words of wisdom?

“Never sell your reputation. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.”

Anna, Human Resources Specialist

Frankfurt, Germany

When it comes to building a career, what piece of advice would you offer?

“That’s a great question since I just started my career. I would give everyone the advice to find a job and profession they can be passionate about and a company they feel comfortable to work with, ethically and personally. Also, I would add to always try to make the best of yourself, don’t hold yourself back in fear of failing and ask for feedback with true intention to improve your way of working.”

At Protiviti, we love a little inspiration. What inspires you?

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”- Saint Francis of Assisi. I think, that prioritization is one of the first things you should learn in your job. Once, you know what’s important to do first, you understood your job and you can start to fulfill your tasks successfully.”

Karlo, Technology Consulting Manager

When it comes to building a career, what piece of advice would you offer?

“Take criticism or feedback for what it is: a gift given to you to make you better at what you do.”

What’s your favorite project that you’ve worked on at Protiviti?

“By far, my most favorite project that I’ve worked on at Protiviti was a Governance Portal implementation at a financial services company. What makes this engagement my favorite is that we had many lively discussions with the client, which oddly enough, not only made our work difficult, but also created some of the most fun and memorable moments of my career.

One thing that I’ve learned during this engagement is that in chaos, there is opportunity. Don’t be afraid to make a difference. You will appreciate your success more if you have had to work hard for it.”

Faith, IT Audit Senior Consultant

Houston, Texas

What achievement or contribution are you most proud of?

“I’ve had the opportunity to plan a lot of events for our Houston Office. Through these opportunities, I am most proud of the contributions I’ve made on the Houston Office’s culture and recognizing the people in our office.

Through the Best People and Culture and Diversity and Inclusion groups I am a part of, I’ve worked with others to plan trivia events, a card-writing event to recognize women in our office for International Women’s Day, intern events, and numerous others. I’m also in charge of the Houston Office Newsletter this year – and our whole focus is to come up with creative ways to recognize our people!

I feel like all these activities have helped contribute to our office’s culture and helped recognize people in the office – and that makes me extremely proud.”

Words of wisdom?

“If Britney Spears could make it through 2007, you can make it through this audit. Just kidding 😊 My favorite words of wisdom – in both my life and career – is the following: ‘If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.’ I read this quote years ago, and it has always stuck with me since.”

When it comes to building a career, what piece of advice would you offer?

“Be as flexible as possible. You never know which direction your career will take you and rolling with the punches will set you up for success.”

What achievement or contribution are you most proud of?

“I’m most proud of one of my first consulting projects in my career. It included transforming an entire warehouse production over the course of the year. For the latter half of the project, I led my own work stream which gave me the opportunity to learn an incredible amount. In the end, my client team had radically changed the way they worked and were all much happier with the process we created together.”

At Protiviti, we love a little inspiration. What are some words of wisdom that have been impactful to you throughout your career?

“’Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever could.’ Don’t be afraid to fail at something – it’s the best way to learn.”
