This past week, Protiviti team members immersed themselves in the dynamic and invigorating atmosphere of the 2024 NABA national convention in Las Vegas. NABA is a nonprofit association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for Black business leaders in accounting, finance business, and entrepreneurship. Their national convention sets itself apart with its focus on professional growth, innovative idea sharing, networking opportunities, as well as wellness activities.
This year’s convention theme was Flow, which is a concept that captures the essence of adaptability and seamless movement in both personal development and business acumen. The convention brought this theme to life through a variety of sessions and workshops designed to help people navigate their careers to reach their full potential.

By sponsoring this convention, we are actively contributing to building a workforce that reflects the world around us where everyone can thrive. In addition to the national convention, Protiviti is sponsoring fourteen local chapters with Robert Half across the US this year. This partnership with NABA allows us to provide our employees with impactful professional experiences while also connecting with potential talent.
We asked some of our Protiviti attendees what their favorite part of this year’s convention was and how the theme of Flow resonates with them. Read below to hear more!

This year’s NABA convention reminded me about the value of building and maintaining strong relationships and the importance of connecting with others in my industry and beyond. I was grateful for the opportunity to leverage our recruiting platform to increase Protiviti’s brand visibility. Overall, my favorite part was meeting our own Protiviti team in person and networking with others in the NABA community.
The theme of Flow reminded me of who I am, and that what I bring to the table is valuable. I now have a renewed effort to be successful no matter the circumstances.

The NABA convention was exceptional. There were many opportunities to network with current and potential clients and to meet incredible professionals. The Juneteenth celebration was amazing. It included inspiring speakers like Viola Davis and Michael Ellison, a celebration of the Djembe Drum, and musical selections from BeBe Winans. The CEO of NABA uplifted attendees by encouraging them to not only plant seeds, but to build a forest.
For me, Flow encourages you to go outside of your comfort zone, to make sure your skills stay relevant, to be exceptional, to demand excellence, and to not settle. It also reminded me to maintain a work-life balance but to continue the grind while also reaching back.

My favorite part about the NABA convention was having the opportunity to meet Robin Washington. Her unique career path has made her the powerhouse that she is today. She is extremely humble, approachable, and full of practical wisdom and advice. My second favorite moment was the relationship building session that I was able to attend. As the Houston Chapter President for NABA, I was able to have an enhanced experience with specific trainings tailored to my leadership role. It was extremely beneficial to connect with other NABA leaders in person and build upon existing relationships that may benefit Protiviti’s alliance with NABA.
To me, Flow means that the path to success is not a sprint nor a straight line, but rather a marathon with peaks and valleys. Every presenter’s story was a testament to this fact and proof of the resiliency of our community. Whether navigating feelings of being overwhelmed, burned-out, or imposter syndrome, the NABA community serves as a safe space for like-minded Black and African American professionals to learn and exchange with one of another.
NABA 2024 gave us a renewed inspiration to practice Flow within our own teams and projects – encouraging flexibility, embracing change, and continuing to progress towards our commitment to success.
