As Earth Day approaches, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment to reflect on our collective responsibility towards the planet we call home. At Protiviti, we have a commitment to sustainability ingrained in our corporate culture. This annual observance serves as a poignant reminder of our vital role in safeguarding our environment for future generations.

We invite you to join us in exploring the significance of this global event and our company’s steadfast dedication to environmental stewardship. Whether you’re a long-standing member of the Protiviti family or a newcomer eager to learn more about our sustainability efforts, now is a time to come together to celebrate Earth Day and reaffirm our commitment to preserving the planet for generations to come. Welcome to our Earth Day celebrations!

Our Chicago office has started an “Earth Month Challenge,” a three-week competition for teams to complete sustainable challenges/activities to earn points.  The goal is to learn that it’s not difficult to incorporate sustainable choices into daily lifestyles via a friendly competition/team-building environment.  The winner of last year’s challenge had the opportunity to take a Shedd Aquarium-led kayak tour of the Wild Mile, the world’s first floating eco-park along the Chicago River, where they learned about the native flora and fauna of the Chicago River.

Our Australia offices will be getting outside to explore and enjoy their natural surroundings through the Walk With a Purpose challenge.  For every consecutive hour, employees walk during Earth Week, Protiviti will donate $15 to the World Wildlife Fund through our Matching Gifts platform.

Our San Francisco office is keeping in theme with this year’s Earth Day focus area of “Planet vs Plastics” by focusing on the sustainable purchasing and storage of groceries. There will be a hosted event to share sustainable packing options and resources in addition to a cost breakdown of buying locally vs imported, as well as more information about Farmers Markets in the Bay Area.

The New York office is working on a recycling initiative to learn about the roadblocks to proper recycling and brainstorming the best way to approach this obstacle.  During Earth Week, New York is hosting a lunch and learn, going for a walk in Central Park, and volunteering at a local park.

The Americas Deliver Center’s iSustain Team in Blue Ash, Ohio, partners with the Ohio River Foundation to clear Honeysuckle, Callery Pear, Winter Creeper, and other invasive species from Summit Park, a beautiful and much-used local park in Blue Ash.  The ADC also has a recycling and reuse event for items that cannot be recycled in our city curbside recycle bins.  Employees bring in items like batteries, plastics, shoes, denim, toner cartridges, cell phones, etc., and the ADC iSustain Team takes them to the Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub.  This year, they also hosted an event where they handed out Purple Milkweed, Butterfly Weed, and Swamp Milkweed seeds to employees while providing information on the benefits of milkweed and instructions on how to plant the seeds.

Our Metro DC office will be planting a mini meadow of native wildflowers to brighten up office space, symbolizing of commitment to biodiversity and local ecosystems.

Globally, Protiviti continues to look for ways to improve efficiency and procure renewable energy through green tariffs. In 2022, we sourced nearly 3,300 megawatt hours of renewable electricity to help power our locations. In Europe and the US, we have partnered with 3rd parties to redeploy or recycle our e-waste, helping to ensure the circularity of the precious materials that help power our information technology.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating Earth Day and embracing the journey towards a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a positive impact that extends far beyond Earth Day.
