Congratulations, Sharon! Chicago-based Managing Director, Sharon Lindstrom, has been named to Consulting magazine’s 2019 “Women Leaders in Consulting” list, receiving the magazine’s Excellence in Leadership award.

A founding member of Protiviti, and former partner at Arthur Andersen, she is honored as a standout female who has made a significant impact on the consulting profession. Sharon’s inclusion on this prestigious list brings to the forefront the work she’s done at Protiviti, not only as a consultant, but as a leader who is focused on people and community, as well.

When asked about her advice, Sharon stated “As you grow in your career, you accumulate experiences, like rings on a tree,” she says. “So focus on growing your tree. Remember, you are here because you’re smart, so make sure your voice is heard and work collaboratively with your team and with your clients. Take pride in your work and how it reflects on you and on the firm.”

Like so, as Sharon has grown in her career, she has also remained committed to her Chicago roots, particularly in the area of education. She is a board member of the Umoja Student Development Corporation, an organization that helps under-resourced high school students develop skills for success in secondary and higher education.

Joseph Tarantino, Protiviti president and CEO notes, “Sharon is an expert in her field, an exceptional business leader and someone who gives back tirelessly to her community. She’s a stellar role model for our consultants, especially those who are beginning their careers, and her recognition as a leader in our profession is well-deserved.”

Her experience with Umoja inspired her to start a college scholarship program in the Chicago Office in 2005 that is now being replicated in two other Protiviti offices in the U.S. “We’ve helped 16 students graduate college, with 12 additional students currently enrolled,” she says.

While humble about receiving the Women in Leadership award, Sharon recognizes that it gives her an opportunity to share her story. “I always wanted to have a meaningful career,” she says, “and I want to make a difference for my clients as well as my community. This award recognizes that having women in leadership positions here at Protiviti and throughout the industry is truly important.”
