Recently, Consulting magazine named one of our New York-based Managing Directors, Barbi Goldstein, a Top Consultantfor her work in delivering the highest levels of client service and creating positive change for her peers, our organization, and the industries and clients she serves. Always ready for a new challenge, it is no wonder Barbi was named to the “Excellence in Innovation” category! Congratulations!
“I am honored to be recognized for our collaborative work in instilling positive change here at Protiviti and among our clients,” Barbi said.
Always Innovating
With more than 20 years’ experience providing financial services industry clients with tailored solutions for their risk and controls, internal audit and SOX compliance requirements, Barbi is currently the global strategic account manager for one of the world’s largest financial services organizations.
Throughout her career here at Protiviti, Barbi has led a variety of engagements, and most notably, her recent role as our organization’s first Global Innovation Leader. Her efforts helped to stand up our global iNNs – innovation sites where our consultants could collaborate during their secondments. During her tenure, she also oversaw the launch of our Design Thinking training program and pivoted the programs to virtual during the pandemic.
“I love the learning,” Barbi said. “Every business challenge is new and interesting, and on every project, I learn not only about the topic, but also more about people. A career in consulting has given me the opportunity to meet so many new people and understand their different perspectives and experiences. I learn so much from everyone I encounter, and it helps me grow.”
Longtime colleague and friend, James Armetta, is so proud to celebrate Barbi. As another Managing Director in our New York office, here’s what James had to say: “Having worked with Barbi for over 20 years, it has been a privilege and honor to watch her grow. From the days where she was a new consultant, to now where she is being honored and recognized as a leader in our profession, I am pleased to be part of her career and journey.”
He even got to attend Barbi’s award ceremony!
Motivating Others
Barbi can be found speaking at our TCC programs, offering inspiration and motivation. “Take risks and don’t be afraid to fail,” is one of her key themes. “New challenges can be scary and intimidating, but I’ve learned that people wouldn’t offer you those opportunities if they didn’t have confidence in you. You’ll be amazed with yourself once you tackle something you didn’t think you could, and your confidence just builds in anticipation of the next new challenge.”
Barbi also served as head of our Parents ENG and is very proud of her ability to maintain work/life balance which helps her and her family to thrive.
“Honestly, I’m most proud to be an executive and a mom. Of course, it’s not always easy, but it’s amazing to know that I can accomplish things both at work and at home. I believe my career helps my kids to develop a strong work ethic and an understanding that if you want certain things in life, it takes hard work. Thomas Edison said, ‘We often miss opportunity because it’s dressed in overalls and looks like work.’ While we don’t typically wear overalls, it takes a lot of hard work in the office and at home to achieve the successes we seek.”
