I am always impressed by the onslaught of questions we get about community involvement during the recruiting season. It is admirable that giving back reigns so supremely in a candidate’s assessment of a potential employer. Community involvement has a fundamental place within Protiviti’s culture – for more on that, see here – and I always enjoy sharing our consultants’ stories on this topic. Below is one such example of a recent experience that Matt, a consultant in Protiviti’s Chicago office, was able to provide.
“Protiviti employees joined more than 6,000 volunteers for the annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon. Together, the volunteers transformed 24 Chicago public schools with new paint, colorful murals, fresh landscaping, and orderly libraries. Given Protiviti’s superior math skills, our team was given the responsibility of creating a 15’x15’ multiplication table on Fairfield Academy’s blacktop on the Southwest side of the city. Challenges the team encountered include: using a 12’ tape measure to make a 15’ grid, paint spills due to wind (and clumsiness), and applying the Pythagorean theorem outside of geometry class.
You done a great job!

The experience was extremely rewarding for all Protivitive employees who participated in this event.
