Earlier this month, the proPRIDE and Multicultural Employee Networking Groups (ENGs) teamed up to discuss how we can lead with inclusion. In addition, they’ve created a guide called Allyship in which an ally is defined as, “anyone who advances a culture of inclusion through intentional, positive, and conscious efforts that benefit people.”
Our ENGs defined three elements essential to becoming an ally:
- Learn more about racism and homophobia so that you can begin to develop a better understanding of how these concepts work in our communities and institutions.
- Find ways to listen and connect in order to continue on your knowledge path by having a better understanding of the needs and asks of the communities.
- Look for ways that you can show support and take action.
