As we approach the holiday season, it’s an important time for all of us to think about the things we are grateful for! In doing so, it’s also equally as important for us to open our eyes and ears to the community around us and those who may be less fortunate.

At Protiviti, our employees are wonderful examples when it comes to making a difference in their local communities. We’re so proud of the work that they do year-round to change lives through volunteer opportunities and donations. Through participating in iCare and i on Hunger (which recently met the huge milestone of 10 Million meals served!) philanthropic events, both of which are strategic initiatives that focus on delivering to our Commitment to our Communities cornerstone, and leveraging our Matching Gifts program, Protiviti demonstrates its commitment to Living Our Promises every day.

Today, we will take a look at how several offices around the world supported their communities and how you can kick off 2020 having been inspired by these.

Tokyo, Japan

Children’s Cancer Association of Japan / Paperless Project

In September, the Tokyo office organized their first St. Baldrick’s Day, a volunteer-driven charity in which participants shave their heads to raise awareness and donations. With the help of six different companies,  30+ volunteers and over 100 attendees, the event raised over $40K. The money was donated to Children’s Cancer Association of Japan. Despite the nerves many volunteers had before shaving off their hair, all the shavees from Tokyo office reported that, surprisingly, they looked great and each was proud to be part of a wonderful cause.

In addition, the Tokyo office began an initiative named the “Paperless Project”. In order to create transparency,  office members are notified of how much paper was consumed during certain time periods. In spreading this information, out hope is continuously lessen that number and make steps towards being paper-free and as green as possible.

Frankfurt, Germany

Health & Motivation Day at Kasinoschule Hoeschst

The Protiviti Germany office worked together to arrange a “Health & Motivation Day” at a local school for students with special needs. The program offered activities that every student could participate in, including fitness training, dancing, soccer, origami handcrafts, gymnastics, meditation, and bicycling. In addition to the activities, a mobile playground was also built for the students! Protiviti Germany served 150 healthy (and tasty!) meals during the event which brought much joy and happiness to both the students and our volunteers.

Orlando, FL

Water Works Program

In July, the Orlando office organized their first water filtration build by partnering with Water Works, an organization with a powerful mission to help eradicate the worldwide problem of access to clean drinking water. The Water Works team is working through Africa village by village to educate communities on clean drinking water and provide them with water filtration systems. The Orlando team built a total of 15 emergency water kits that are designed for temporary/short-term use and Water Works donated an additional 15 household kits designed the provide an entire village with clean water for three years as a “match” to the Protiviti Orlando team’s donation. The office is excited to have had the opportunity to make an impact and to be part of such a wonderful cause.

The charity campaign initiative in the London office, which includes participation in challenges such as the National 3Peaks Challenge (a climbing challenge of the 3 largest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales), Guy’s Urban Challenge (triathlon) and the hosting of events such as a movie night and bake sale, has allowed the team to come together to raise funds for this important charity.

Ozanam

The Kansas City office organized a volunteer afternoon with Ozanam, a nonprofit treatment center for children with behavioral and/or emotional problems and learning disabilities, to help with their maintenance grounds clean up.  Ozanam provides residential treatment, coeducational day treatment, group home living, independent living services and behavior consultation services for schools. The team helped with weeding and cleaning Ozanam’s garden and also trimming their hedges around their property.  The Protiviti volunteers also enjoyed a fun game of kickball with the some of the kids onsite and grilled some burgers and hotdogs for the group.
