That’s a staggering number. Unfortunately, it is also a statistic that is often overlooked. With Mental Health Awareness month under way, Protiviti is prepared to reduce the stigma around these conversations, especially in the workplace. Our Employee Well-Being initiative has created a series that will promote awareness and support those affected by these challenges. Our hope is that education on the topic of mental health will encourage individuals to seek further resources to support themselves, their families, and those they love.
Why is mental health important in the workplace? In order for our people to thrive, they need the resources and tools to combat the risks of stress, anxiety, and depression, so that they can achieve their full potential in work and in life.
What are some areas of mental health that are important to discuss? This month, our mental health awareness series will cover a number of topics our team found to be helpful. With weekly themes in place, we have identified five main discussion areas: awareness and restoration; resilience; depression, anxiety and stress; and diet and exercise. For each topic, we will delve more in-depth and offer ideas for ways to support yourself and/or others in pursuit of strong mental health.
