Veterans Day is an annual holiday set aside to honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Here at Protiviti we are proud to have some of these brave men and women on our team. One such member is Dallas Associate Director and member of our founding team, Tanya Trout. Tanya continues to maintain her service to our country while building a career here at Protiviti. I recently had an opportunity to connect with Tanya regarding her service and the amazing career she has built. Here is what she had to say.
What was your background prior to joining Protiviti? “I graduated from Arizona State University in May 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I attended college on a 4 year ROTC scholarship and went into the US Army as a 2LT in the Signal Corps after graduation. I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas in the 1st Cavalry Division for 5 years and deployed to Bosnia in support of NATO operations in 1999.”
What has your career been like since joining Protiviti? I am a founding member with Protiviti and have been able to be involved in multiple areas in the firm. Internally, I have assisted with the original conception of PM Toolbox, created career development skillsets and I was the internal PM for the National Diversity and Inclusion initiative, just to name a few. Externally, I have had the opportunity to focus on everything from Sarbanes Oxley work to Merger and Divesture Process Improvement and PM Implementation and Assistance. Additionally, I have worked in a variety of industries from Consumer Products and Retail, Insurance, Healthcare Payers, and Financial Institution.”
Why is continuing to serve our country important to you? “Loyalty to start with, as it was the US Army who initially invested and provided me with leadership and communications training. I am also passionate about the need for a strong military to deter terrorism and also the ability to defend and support other civil authorities to include disaster relief efforts.”
How has Protiviti supported you? “Protiviti has always supported me and this dual role to be a contributing member of the firm and to be a citizen soldier. I have been deployed 4 times with 3 out of the 4 taking me to the Middle East. This last deployment, I was the commander for a battalion providing expeditionary and strategic communications for Army Central Command units. We provided communications support for over 18 sites and 8 countries in support of 3 named operations – Freedom’s Sentinel, Inherent Resolve and Spartan Shield. Additionally, Protiviti always does an outstanding job of reintegrating me back and affording me opportunities to leverage the leadership and technical skills I have developed through these deployments.”
