Last Friday, July 10th, 2015, marked the 2nd Annual Intern Day of Service here at Protiviti! The U.S. Intern Day of Service has quickly become one of my favorite days of the year. Not only is it a fun day, but it’s one that is impactful and makes me proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization that gives back to the community.

First and foremost, we’d like to thank the various organizations that allowed us to be part of their efforts for a day. Some of these organizations include Stop Hunger Now, Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House, and many, many more. We’d also like to thank all our 725+ participants, including our 196 interns from 25 offices who helped to accumulate over 1,665 hours of service in just ONE DAY!! Not only did The Intern Day of Service make a statement in hours, but we also had 11 of those offices who committed to an organization that would support Protiviti’s iOnHunger initiative. We may have already hit the 1 million meal mark back in June, but we continue to increase that number and I am proud to let you all know that, we added an additional 117,655 meals towards our initiative last Friday. WOW!

Though many of our offices worked to pack meals, we had offices help in several other ways as well. We had coast to coast clean of up weeds in both community gardens and zoo’s from our Seattle and Baltimore offices. We had employees and interns in Chicago mentor local high school students in underserved neighborhoods to help them with networking and career events. We had team members in St. Louis making blankets for patients at the local children’s hospital. We had 16,000lbs of food moved by the Tampa Office for Feeding America. We reached organizations in a variety of different areas and I am just so honored to call everyone who participated my fellow employees. You all rock! You are all awesome! And, I can’t wait to continue to build the U.S. Intern Day of Service heading in to 2016.
