Kevin Eiden, guest Protiviti Blogger, completed an internship in the IT Consulting practice over summer 2013.  Kevin will join the Chicago office in the summer of 2014 as a full time consultant.  Here, he shares with us some insight of what the life of a returning intern looks like as they finish up their schooling before joining us full time!

After my internship with Protiviti this summer, I was able to bring some really valuable skills to apply during my Information Systems graduate program at Indiana University. The project work I did during my internship gave me good perspective on what businesses really care about, and that experience paid off when I was selected to compete in the BMC Student Case Competition in Nashville, TN.

My two teammates and I competed against 7 other Information Systems and MBA programs on a business case that focused on IT Service Management. We were given two weeks to analyze the case, form recommendations and create a presentation. My experience with Protiviti not only helped my ability to analyze and solve IT-related business problems, but it also embedded in me an emphasis on business value in IT decisions. I believe what separated my team’s recommendations from the rest was our ability to link IT to the business and demonstrate both strong qualitative benefits and healthy return on investment. Our hard work earned us 2nd place in the competition!

Congratulations Kevin and IU MSIS team on this great accomplishment!
