We have written before about the importance of your alumni network as you head out into the business world. A Protiviti campus hire recently saw this in action – Thanks to Laura for sharing her story!

Guests at the Notre Dame alumni event that Laura helped to plan in Chicago.

“I had the opportunity to help one of our Managing Directors organize an event for Notre Dame alumni in the Chicago area. Greg Hedges chairs the Advisory Board for the Notre Dame Executive Business Council of Chicago. The NDEBC is a way for Notre Dame alumni to connect with others in the business community for networking and mentoring opportunities. Last week, the NDEBC hosted a luncheon featuring our special guest: Paul Purcell, Chairman, President, and CEO of Robert W. Baird.

As Greg was our host for the event, I was able to get involved in the planning and organization, including the invitation, catering, registration, decorations, and logistics. As a recent grad, it was a great chance to get exposure to some important and influential alumni in the Chicago area.

The luncheon went really well, and over 90 people attended the event. Paul Purcell shared his thoughts on everything from the upcoming election to the future of the economy to the culture he’s built at Baird. We also featured a local charity, Communities in the Schools of Chicago, and the work that they are doing. Overall, it was a great way to network with alumni and create connections across both industries and generations. We are now looking forward to the next NDEBC event this fall!”
